This course emphasizes double-entry accounting; methods and principles of recording business transactions; the preparation of various documents used in recording income, expenses, acquisition of assets, incurrence of liabilities, and changes in equity; and the preparation of financial statements. Automated accounting activities using spreadsheet and accounting software are included.
PREREQUISITE: Students should have previously completed, or be concurrently enrolled in, the Business Technology Education core courses (either Business Systems and Technology 1 or Keyboarding and Document Processing and Business Computer Applications 1).

This course continues the study of accounting principles. The content includes voucher systems, cash receipts, petty cash, payroll records, and internal control systems. Students will perform automated accounting activities with spreadsheet and accounting software commonly used in business. This course is part of the Accounting Operations program.
PREREQUISITE: Accounting Applications 1

This course develops entry-level skills for administrative and office support careers. The content emphasizes personal and professional development and promotes application of higher-level office procedures, tasks and communication skills through the use of technology. Students will apply the use of information management tools, perform financial functions, transcribe machine dictation, and perform specialized records management functions. This course is part of the Administrative Assistant, Legal Secretary, and Medical Secretary programs.
PREREQUISITE: Students should have previously completed, or be concurrently enrolled in, Business Systems and Technology.

This course is designed to provide a basic overview of current business and information systems and trends and to introduce students to the basic skills and foundations required for today’s business environments. Emphasis is placed on developing proficiency with touch keyboarding and fundamental computer applications, so that they may be used as communication tools for enhancing personal and workplace proficiency in an information based society.

This course is the first of three courses in the Marketing program. The purpose of this course is to develop the competencies essential to marketing which include human relations, employability, communications, math and economic skills. The fundamentals of marketing and selling are also included. Learning activities, within and outside of the classroom, are an integral part of this program. DECA is the co-curricular vocational student organization which provides leadership training experiences and reinforces specific vocational skills. These activities are considered an integral part of this program.

This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth study of marketing in a free enterprise society and provide the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for employment in a wide variety of marketing occupations.
PREREQUISITE: Marketing Essentials or concurrent enrollment

This is the third of three courses in the program. Marketing Management provides instruction for career sustaining level employment in the industry. The content includes applied skills related to the marketing functions including employment skills required for success in marketing and career planning as related to the marketing industry.
PREREQUISITE: Marketing Essentials, Marketing Applications or concurrent enrollment
Credit 2 11-12
The purpose of this course is to provide the on-the-job component when the cooperative method of instruction is used to prepare students for employment in marketing occupations. On-the-job experiences are provided which will develop occupational competencies required for employment in the occupation chosen by the student as a career choice or provide experiences that further develop the competencies acquired by the student in an in-school job preparatory program.
PREREQUISITE: Must be concurrently or previously enrolled in a related marketing program.

Special Note
: Supervised on-the-job activities may be continued as a summer learning experience, without classroom instruction, for students who participated in the in-school and on-the-job instructional activities during the school year immediately preceding the summer assignment.
