Career and Technical Education prepares learners for jobs that are based in manual or practical activities, traditionally non-academic and totally related to a specific trade, occupation or vocation A Credit is defined as a course meeting at a minimum of 40 minutes per day 5 days per week. A student needs a total of 24 credits to receive a high school diploma. In today's society a high school diploma is vital for economic success. During a full life cycle a high school graduate receives $470,000 more than a drop out.

South Plantation High School has a number of career and technology classes available for students. Among those courses are: culinary, PC tech support, marketing, horticulture, and many more.

Jerry Holt is our marketing one and two teacher and the DECA advisor. He is also the co-department head of Career and Technology and he believes that properly learning how to use and apply technology is vital for the success of students today because technology is the future.Apart from Mr.Holt, Ms.Pucker is also a co-department head. Mr. Holt would agree that hands-on programs grasp the students attention and interest, therefore allowing students to learn the process. Mr. Holt prefers to “model what you teach." An example of this is having students business dress once a month to give them a taste of the future and what they’ll have to do. Mr. Holt doesn’t just tell his students to business dress, he dresses up along with them because he believes it’s important to show students how to apply their skills as opposed to just learning straight from the book.
