The content should include, but not be limited to, the following: production of a characteristic tone on wind and percussion instruments; ensemble performance techniques, including phrasing, articulation, blend, balance, and intonation; response to conducting; performance of band literature from varied historical periods and cultures; composition, arrangement, and improvisation techniques; evaluation and application of knowledge of musical form and history; analysis and evaluation as a performer; responsible participation in musical activities; importance of music in everyday life.

The purpose of these courses is to provide students with instruction in the application of vocal musicianship and technical skills and the development of aesthetic awareness through the study and performance of varied choral literature. Chorus I-IV provides students with large group experiences in basic vocal production techniques and part singing for mixed voices. Emphasis will be placed on the rehearsal performance of quality choral literature from a variety of periods and styles. Skills and concepts necessary for musical vocal performance will be developed. Students will participate in a minimum of three performances per year (one of those being FBA Concert Evaluation Festival). Student performance standards will determine the levels (I-IV) of assignment and achievement. Advanced chorus includes all of the requirements of regular chorus as well as individualized performance.
