The Senior Project provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate the acquisition of new abilities and talents in a comprehensive exhibition. During this year-long process, students examine an issue or topic of special personal interest. By working on a project relevant to that interest, students will take appropriate risks and stretch their learning so as to grow both intellectualy and emotionally. Students are expected to produce something which does not already exist with the aim of benefiting others as well as themselves.
The work will culminate in an exhibition that will have three distinct components: a project with a portfolio, an oral presentation and demonstration along with an exhibit for the Senior Symposium.
The Project encourages students to link their studies to the community that they are about to enter as participating members through service or through skill building. The project is required in order for students to fulfill the requirements for the magnet curriculum.
The Senior Symposium is April 25, 2012
SPHS Pond
Kalen Reddy and Haley Harris are creating a small scale freshwater pond to beautify the South Plantation campus. It will also serve as a way to observe the effects of a living freshwater habitat. They are enrolled in Mr. Zealy's Limnology class.
"You really learn to appreciate the beauty of nature when you are a part of it."
